Port St. Lucie’s Tradition community has reached another milestone with the recent sale of The Shoppes at the Heart of Tradition, a newly built retail center anchored by ALDI. The shopping center, located on Discovery Way in Southern Grove, was acquired in May 2025 for $32 million by 4Y Plaza LLC, marking one of the largest retail transactions in St. Lucie County this year.
A Modern Retail Hub in Tradition
The 71,000-square-foot center officially opened in 2024 and quickly established itself as a destination for both residents and visitors. ALDI serves as the anchor tenant, joined by a mix of restaurants, cafés, and service providers. Current occupants include Papa John’s, Carmela Coffee, Kyle G’s Amore Italian Chophouse, Tomalty Dental, Picasso Nails & Spa, Rita’s Italian Ice, Peach Cobbler Factory, Swift Mediterranean Grill, and other local and regional brands.
This tenant lineup reflects a deliberate effort to create a community-oriented shopping experience, blending daily essentials with dining and leisure.
Development Timeline
The property moved through Port St. Lucie’s planning pipeline beginning in 2022, when the City Council approved a subdivision plat creating parcels for the retail center and adjacent public spaces. By mid-2023, site work and vertical construction were underway, with ALDI among the first tenants to secure permits.
Early in 2025, the city approved a signage variance allowing adjustments to the monument signs at the three entrances, signaling that leasing and tenant buildouts were in full swing.
The “Heart” Connection
The project derives its name from the Heart in the Park plaza and sculpture that sits immediately adjacent. Designed as both a gathering place and a public art feature, the heart-shaped installation connects to Tradition’s trail system and enhances the sense of place for the district.
Together, the park and retail center form a focal point for Southern Grove, reinforcing Tradition’s vision of a walkable, mixed-use community.
What’s Next
With leasing momentum strong, plans are already in motion for Phase II, which will add roughly 15,000 square feet of additional retail space on the same parcel. Beyond this site, developers are also advancing projects nearby, including Shoppes at Southern Grove, which is slated to bring a large format home improvement anchor and additional retail opportunities by 2026.
